چکیده

Introduction Tourism literature tends to convey the impression that tourists are exceedingly active during their holidays (Thornton, Williams & Shaw, 1997; Shaw & Williams, 2002; Walmsley, 2004). This is the case especially when non-academic studies are considered (see for example F.U.R., 2007; Nutek, 2007). However, this assumption might be influenced by the methodologies employed and the cases chosen. Furthermore, it is often tourists travelling in larger parties that are studied, while individual tourists tend to be left aside. Also, many investigations have commercial goals, which increases the number of studies addressing issues of primary concern to commercial stakeholders. The results of this approach have led to tourism partly being described as the opposite of everyday life in social science literature (Quan & Wang, 2003).

The Influence of Personality on Tourist Information Behaviour

The purpose of this article is to propose a model that links broader general personality and travel personality traits with tourists’ information behaviour. The model asserts that both types of personality traits will have an influence on tourist information behaviour. Furthermore it is asserted that tourist information needs will have an influence on other tourist information behaviour, includ...

A Sociocybernetics Data Analysis Using Causality in Tourism Networks

The aim of this paper is to propose a mathematical model to determine invariant sets, set covering, orbits and, in particular, attractors in the set of tourism variables. Analysis was carried out based on a pre-designed algorithm and applying our interpretation of chaos theory developed in the context of General Systems Theory. This article sets out the causal relationships associated with tour...

Swedish Population Substructure Revealed by Genome-Wide Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Data

The use of genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) data has recently proven useful in the study of human population structure. We have studied the internal genetic structure of the Swedish population using more than 350,000 SNPs from 1525 Swedes from all over the country genotyped on the Illumina HumanHap550 array. We have also compared them to 3212 worldwide reference samples, includi...

The Non-Accidental Tourist: Using Ambient Intelligence For Enhancing Tourist Experiences

An Ambient Intelligent environment is aware of the presence of a person, perceives her needs and responds intelligently. Ambient intelligence can be used to guide a tourist through the city in such a way that is mutually beneficial for both the tourist and the city. The composite set of services delivered to a tourist can be personalized. This adaptive behaviour is best supported by Virtual Ent...

A Micro-simulation Model for E-services in Cultural Heritage Tourism

Tourism is on a rising curve from both a policy and research perspective. This paper aims to present new research advances on individual tourist behaviour and motives, with particular reference to the role of e-services in cultural heritage tourism. An innovative tool used here is (spatial) micro-simulation modelling (MSM). This method will be used to offer a micro-based picture of the motives ...
